An abundance of natural oils are contained within this dense, heavy wood, making it resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring. Shorea is durable and weather-resistant enough to be left untreated. When left untreated the wood will weather into a nice shade of gray, but the grain will remain smooth.
