An abundance of natural oils are contained within this dense, heavy wood, making it resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring. Shorea is durable and weather-resistant enough to be left untreated. When left untreated the wood will weather into a nice shade of gray, but the grain will remain smooth. There is no splitting or splintering like in many other types of wood. although not necessary, you may wish to treat your Shorea wood outdoor patio furniture with Teak Oil to prolong the weathering process (see related products).
